Day 19 - 20

Updated: Jul 30

Day 19

Depart Kilronan 1020 arrive Rossaveel marina 1230 - 10 miles

A beautiful sunny afternoon allowed the crew to relax and recharge.

The local pub (known as Terrys) was a 15 minute walk and we checked with the staff and some locals where to go for dinner.

The consensus was that we should take a taxi to Spiddal which we did - a nice small town on the shore of Galway bay.

Called into Terry’s on the way back to the boat and had a few games of pool with some local fishermen.

As it was both David and Gordon final night onboard we sat up into the early hours discussing the trip to date.

Day 20

Crew changeover day; new crew expected at 1200 so boat cleaned, and water and fuel tanks refilled.

Weather forecast for today is a strong southerly which will make rounding Mace Head very uncomfortable, so delaying a decision on today’s destination until new crew onboard.

Adam, Andrew & Nigel arrived shortly after 1300, and after a quick transfer of gear David and Gordon left us.

A huge thanks to both of them for making so much northerly distance over the past 5 days; the “A team”.

Decision taken to stay on shore as the wind has increased and raining hard.

Dinner aboard cooked by Andrew and an early night in preparation for an early start tomorrow.
